Propylene is one of the most important basic petrochemicals, which is
used as a raw material of polypropylene, acrylonitrile, octanol, acrylic acid,
cumene, and propylene oxide.

The majority of propylene have been produced from NCC and RFCC but recently the considerable quantity of propylene is also obtained by new method of propane dehydrogenation(PDH) and olefin conversion technology(OCT) like methathesis.

Taekwang established the propylene plant by the new technology of UOP in
Ulsan in April 1997 with the capacity of 250,000 metric tons a year. This
propylene is used as a raw material of our own acrylonitrile plant.

Taekwang's propylene plant is the biggest one in the world among the
propylene plant which takes dehydrogenation process and is well known
equipment to produce propylene in a fairly short time after start-up.
